Janie 18 min. · ages 8-12 Janie, 9, has a perfect
life as a single daughter in a loving family. Then her life is shattered when Ben, 5, the brother she
never knew existed, unexpectedly shows up to live with her family.
Because You Can't Dance 4 min. · ages 10-15 A silent film about a
young couple who are forbidden to marry because one of them can't dance.
Loopy Sloop 4 min. · ages 8-12 Captain BigBoot, Shorty

pompous adventurer, is faced with a moral dilemma in his quest to capture the
elusive Bigfoot.
Going to School in
India: Part 1 32 min. · ages 5-12 Four mini movies tell the
story of going to school in India through the eyes of a child who goes to
school in a mud desert, in the dark, on a mountaintop and by wheelchair.

Bit of Struggle Mary Patierno · 55 min. Back by popular demand
from its NIFF 2005 sold-out showing, Vieques documents the David-and-Goliath struggle of the
9,300 residents of a tiny Puerto Rican island, who stood up to the world's most
powerful military and won through
wholly peaceful means.
Darfur Diaries: Message
from Home Adam Shapiro, Aisha Bain and Jen Marlowe · 57 min The victims of the Darfur
crisis speak about their experiences and show the world who they are: a people
with full lives, a culture, a heritage. Though undergoing traumatic loss, they
demonstrate inspiring strength and resilience.
11:00 am Graham Hall Panel: Anatomy of a Documentary
1:00 pm Academy of Music J. L. Aronson · 103 min. Daniel Smith, an eccentric
musician and visual artist, leads his siblings and best friend to indie-rock
stardom as the Danielson Famile, eventually facing the struggle to become
viable as a solo act. Making use of collage, direct cinema and animation, Danielson tackles issues of creativity vs. accessibility,
Christian faith vs. popular culture, and family vs. individuality. Note: This film is
about a musical family. It is not a family film meant to appeal to children.
1:00 pm Graham Hall Damon O'Steen A slacker runs out of
couches to sleep on and embarks on a road trip to find his lost love, tricking
his best friend into going with him. Along the way, they encounter Hymn-En-Em,
a white-rapping youth minister; Big Bunyon, a rapper-turned-fitness guru, and
more. Shot in eight states with a seven-person crew, including the three lead
actors.

the star in the sky and doesn't appreciate the flowers around him. The man in
the sky wants the flower on earth and is only frustrated by the stars.
Jahrgang '45 (Born In
'45) Jürgen Böttcher ·
1965-66/1990 · 94 min. · B/W
Al and Li have been
married only a couple of months but decide to divorce. Al, a motorcycle
enthusiast, fears losing his freedom and spends a couple days riding through
Berlin meeting friends and strangers. Born in '45 was caught in a wave of politically motivated film
bans in the summer of 1966. Only
in 1990, when it was shown in cinemas, were the true beauties of the film
discovered. Inspired by the
Italian neo-realists, Böttcher, a painter and documentary maker (this was his
only feature film), exhibits a sensitive style characterized by accurate social
observations and poetic verse.

Kittredge · 12 min. Nicholas, the new kid in
school, falls prey to an evil trio of girls. Alicia, the leader of the pack,
spins a tall tale about what happened to the last kid who entered the fridge
for snack time. Scared silly but stepping up to the challenge, Nicholas soon

Muriel Kim Romano · 21 min. Muriel's outgoing message
on her answering machine is: "I can't answer. I have cancer." The outrageous Jewish New Yorker,
transplanted to Key West, interacts with a cheating husband; his son through an
affair; her gay best friend, Sal, and her bipolar grown son, revealing her
unusual spin on food, orgasms, mental illness and a bedroom ceiling fan. kim_romano@verizon.net
1918: a short film Jay Burke 15 min. Eighty-six years of
heartbreak. Two Boston boys finally have a shot to go to the World Series with
the Sox. But a series of mishaps takes them on a wrong turn. They're two underdogs--on
a mission, and desperate for victory.
Accidents Will Happen Peter Hobbs and
Elizabeth Foley · 20 min. A punk rocker accidentally
gets his lesbian coworker pregnant, then tells his girlfriend.
Terminal Conversation Scott Kittredge · 18
min. Dave is traveling on
business. His wife calls: "It's over. There's someone else." What if the one you loved left you? Dave desperately searches for answers. At
the airport he unexpectedly receives guidance from a strange man who strikes up
a conversation. Now, as he heads home, Dave finds himself on a much greater
journey.

min. In winter 1974 German
director Werner Herzog walked from Munich to Paris to see his dying friend,
film critic Lotte Eisner. In summer 2005, hoping to meet the man who had
inspired him to make movies, Linas Phillips made his own pilgrimage, walking
1,200 miles from Seattle to Herzog's Los Angeles home.
